On 7 February 2026, the Zambezi MCC family rolled into Danville with one mission: to bring joy, laughter, and a little bit of chaos (the fun kind) to the kids of Eden Academy. These children come from families facing challenges at home, but for one bright day, the only challenge was who could win the sack race without falling over.
The field became a playground of boere sports—from tug-of-war to sack races, proving that balance and dignity don’t always go hand in hand. Speeches were shared, and the kids were laser-focused on the boerewors rolls and sweets. Bikers tried to keep up with the energy levels, but the kids clearly had the upper hand. (Rumor has it some bikers are still recovering.)
Gifts That Go Beyond the Day
The fun was only half the story. Zambezi MCC also made sure the children were set up for success by providing:
School shoes (because sack races are easier when your feet are protected)
Clothes and school bags
Sporting equipment to keep the games alive long after the event
Stationery—because every future leader needs the right tools to write their story
Why It Matters
This wasn’t just about games and food. It was about showing these kids that they are valued, supported, and part of a bigger family. Sometimes a pair of shoes or a boerewors roll carries more than material weight—it carries hope, dignity, and the reminder that community stands together.
It was a day where laughter drowned out worries, where sweets tasted sweeter because they came with love, and where Zambezi MCC proved that giving back can be both serious in purpose and hilarious in execution.
