On the 3rd of June 2023, we as Zambezi MCC, did what we do best and what we stand for “Making a difference”. We visited Hanna Charity and Empowerment Foundation for our 2nd Charity drop in 2023. Complete with a bakkie load of goodies. From food, blankets and clothes to a delicious warm cup of coffee accompanying a sweet treat, there was something for everyone and a DIFFERENCE was truly made!! Every child received a soft toy and Easter goody egg sponsored by Annamarie herself. Annamarie, the manager for Hanna Charity and Empowerment Foundation East Lynne and Jan Niemand Park, awaited us with open arms together with a crowd full of excited Kiddies and Parents patiently awaiting the arrival of the Harleys. Seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces makes what we do effortless. Annamarie shared with us that her branch has not received any donations for a year and a half. But in good faith, through prayers and blessings, they can ALWAYS take care of every hungry person entering their lives. Annamarie knows everyone in her area by name and treats them like family.
Some Projects run by Hanna Charity and Empowerment Foundation:
Soup Kitchens: Annamarie and her Hard-working team provide their area with Soup Kitchens twice a week. They are providing each person with a bowl of warm soup and a food package depending on the sponsorships received for the specific soup kitchen.
Clothing banks: These clothing banks are run by Annamarie and her team and the families in the community can then collect second-hand clothing for their specific needs.
Womanhood/Sisterhood: Women come together every week to discuss any personal problems they may have with a professional counselor or psychologist. They also learn new skills and participate in arts and crafts. In this Womanhood/Sisterhood, they support young girls teaching them essential life skills and guiding them where needed.
Prayer group: Some families gather once a week to pray for their community and their families.
Libraries: Each community has a library in Wendy’s. The librarian is usually one of the older ladies from the community who has great people skills and this provides this person with much-needed income.
Skills development: All kinds of skills get developed in these communities depending on the available volunteers to assist in Job creation. People from the community get employed in every aspect possible and, through this, help the community they reside in.
Marvelous Mommies: This project focuses on new mommies and assists them with all the questions they have. How to raise their kids inside poverty-stricken communities.
